I have some I will not give much in the way of help, I know what they are capable of and I push them to solve the problems on their own. Others I know will never get beyond a certain point without help but are willing to work as hard as they are capable. A hard worker with limited ability will pass my class even if I do have to hold their hand a lot. It will always...I totally agree with your summary. It will always be a good teacher that comes to the rescue, particularly in the K-12 environment.
