I’ve decided that a tool as visual and touch enabled as
TouchDevelop lends itself to video instructions more than text based ones even with a lot of pictures. So here now is
“Hello World” TouchDevelop style in a video.
Creating Hello World using TouchDevelop

Thanks. I needed that.
Although I am not a big fan of programming on the devices (I am blinder than a bat and the little screens just do not do it for me) I think this will be a fun direction for the kids next year. I found a book on the TouchDevelop web site. It appears to be written by experts in the language. Too bad they are not experts in writing a book to introduce a new language to beginners.
I'm hoping to do a series of these. Also thinking about starting to write a TouchDevelop book this summer. Not sure if I'll get to it but I have a chance.
